PAINTINGS

Dahlia study medium.jpg

Subject matter for painting comes mainly from my immediate surroundings, my garden and my home. I enjoy exploring colour and texture, basing most work on observation and sometimes simplifying or stylising ideas. As my formal training was in textiles, I still tend to look for pattern and veer away from realistic interpretation of what I see. Some ideas have carried over into experimenting with lino-cut printing which makes me look at simplifying shapes further still.

I find inspiration in the work of many other artists, both historical and contemporary. Among these are the still life works of are Mary Fedden and Samuel John Peploe.

Please browse the gallery strip below and feel free to ask any questions by emailing contact@katrineagle.com.

Visit my Prints and Small Originals page for a wider selection of smaller works including lino-cut printing and giclee prints.

Many more paintings are available so if you have spotted something you like on my social media pages please get in touch. Studio visits can be arranged.
